JosephCareRX is a physician-led obesity and metabolic health practice providing evidence-based medical care, metabolic testing, and long-term obesity management. We welcome referrals from healthcare professionals and community partners.
This page outlines how to refer, what services we provide, and what to expect after referral, based on your role.

What Happens After Referral
- Our administrative team contacts the patient to explain the next steps
- Appointments may be insurance-based or cash-based, depending on services
- With patient consent, we communicate back with the referring professional
- Care coordination is prioritized, not replaced

- Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) for eligible patients
- Long-term maintenance care
Care Model
- We accept many commercial insurance plans and also offer cash-based care
- We focus on evidence-based, stigma-aware obesity treatment
- We coordinate with referring clinicians and do not duplicate primary care
With patient consent, we are happy to:
- Share treatment summaries
- Coordinate medication management
- Communicate changes in care plans
For Registered Dietitians: When to Refer
- Unclear or inconsistent calorie needs
- Weight loss or maintenance plateaus
- Suspected under-fueling or metabolic adaptation
- Clients who would benefit from objective metabolic data
What We Provide
- Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) testing via indirect calorimetry
- Body Composition Testing via SECA MBCA body composition analyzer (bioimpedance)
- Medical interpretation of metabolic data
- Optional repeat testing for trend assessment
We do not replace nutrition counseling. Dietitians remain the primary provider for dietary care.
With client consent:
- RMR results can be shared with you
- Data may be used to refine nutrition prescriptions
Professional Courtesy
Registered dietitians are welcome to schedule a complimentary RMR test to experience the process and decide if it is useful for their practice. There is no referral obligation.
For Personal Trainers & Fitness Professionals
When to Refer
- Clients are struggling despite consistent training
- Plateaus during fat loss or recomposition
- Confusion around calorie targets
- Clients seeking data-driven guidance
What We Provide
- Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) testing
- Body composition analysis with SECA MBCA body composition analyzer (bioimpedance)
- Medical context for metabolic data
We do not provide training services and do not compete with fitness professionals. Our role is to support informed, realistic coaching.

- Results may be shared to support training plans
Trainer Education
Certified trainers are invited to experience complimentary RMR testing as a professional courtesy. This is educational and not tied to referral volume.

- Data is used clinically, not judgmentally
